Let’s be a part of this debate: Galaxy S7 Edge Vs Galaxy Note7

Design and Finish

Design is a very subjective part. While we could distinguish the appearance of the Note, you could quite find something mediocre or awful. But it is undeniable that the Galaxy S7 edge as Note7 have the same basic design, with some differences in the dimensions of devices:

Galaxy Note7:  153.5 x 73.9 x 7.9 mm
Galaxy S7 Edge: 150.9 x 72.6 x 7.7 mm

Nestle differences

The differences are hard to perceive between the two models. On the top of the Galaxy Note7 there is a biometric sensor which scans the iris of the owner of the smartphone. However, this innovation does not yet offer interest to the overall experience, because the use of fingerprint reader is much more sensitive and intuitive. These differences in the design and security should not affect our choice this time. Especially as the iris recognition has yet to undergo one or two smartphone operating cycles before really operational.

The Note7 is slightly larger than the S7 edge

The biometric sensor is smaller in Note7, and its design has more square ends compared to the Galaxy S7 edge. Another notable difference between the two Samsung models: the Note7 has a USB port Type C and a slot for the S Pen stylus in the lower part of the mobile, while the Galaxy S7 is compatible with USB 2.0.

Screen quality

The screens of both smartphones use a super AMOLED, have curved edges and a Quad HD resolution. From this point of view, the Galaxy Note7 has the advantage of compatibility with HRD10 which allows HDR rendering for video and video games. This means that despite saturation and excellent brightness for both devices, the Note7 has a slight superiority with its hardware.

Software and performance

The processor and graphics card are the same, like RAM, but the TouchWiz interface is different and affects the performance that are more disappointing on the Note7. This is partly because of the Grace UX interface, the name of the new theme of the Note, which has seen some screen worries that freezes and slowdowns, but on the other hand, he managed to win the support of users being visually more sober.

Only the Galaxy Note7 has a USB Type-C.

On the software side, the fact that the Note7 account on the S Pen and optimized resources in the use of the stylus gives you the opportunity to increase productivity with smartphones, unlike the S7 or S7 edge. With the S Pen, take notes, translate words automatically, edit photos or create spreadsheets becomes much easier.

Both devices offer Game Launcher, which can be an excellent choice for those who use their smartphone to play. It is also possible to disable the physical buttons, save their progress in the game and optimize the battery consumption during a game.

Audio quality

A flat on both devices: audio quality. Both devices have what is probably the best screen for multimedia consumption, but in truth, they work well only with headphones.

The camera performance is excellent in contrast. Their Optical Image Stabilizer, compatibility with RAW, their excellent color rendition and white balance, in addition to modes such as selective focus, well justify the 5 stars in terms of quality. The main sensors each have a resolution of 12 megapixels and a photo sensor of 1 / 2.5 inches. The pixels have an average size of 1.4 microns and are more sensitive to sunlight. Opening a focal length f / 1.7 and Dual Pixel technology are present on both devices. In the following links you can see a photo gallery taken during our testing of each device.

Battery life

Currently, regarding the battery life, the Galaxy S7 Edge has the advantage. In addition to having a greater capacity, it has a range up to a high-end smartphone. As said before, the Galaxy Note 7 was withdrawn from the market due to battery problems. Unfortunately, Samsung encounter many problems to put the product on the market. Even devices with “safe batteries” have autonomy worries after the withdrawal.

However, it should be noted that in terms of energy savings, the two Samsung models offer two options: the power saving mode, and the ultra-power saving mode, all equipped with fast charging technology wireless.

Galaxy Note 7 vs Galaxy S7 Edge: which to choose?

There were days when people preferred to wait for the resale of the Galaxy Note7 to choose Samsung’s next smartphone, since this phone is high on list of choices. That said, the latest news about the models performance 7 will probably make me change my mind.

If this happens, the next smartphone on the list would, no doubt, be the Galaxy S7 edge. There is little difference between this model and the rating range from Samsung. The fact that one of them includes the S Pen, a screen technology that will be included in the S range in March (with the launch of Galaxy S8 ), and USB Type-C, which is the standard the future for charging and data transfer, completely important to the Samsung users.
