The OnePlus 3T is currently one of the best quality/price ratios in the smartphone segment. But the ambitions of the brand could rule out the smallest scholarships. Information about the next OnePlus flagship is starting to come out on the Chinese net. And if the OnePlus 5 is more than ever expected, its price could chill customers looking for the right compromise of yesteryear.

Let’s recall that the OnePlus 3T currently is equivalent to an increase compared to the two previous models. It should nevertheless be pointed out that the probable technical sheet has something to envy. An authority site has obtained a photo of a prototype of OnePlus 5.

OnePlus 5: the dual photo sensor is precise at the back … as at the front of the camera

The Chinese version of Twitter has published what appears to be two sketches of the OnePlus 5 design. We know a little more about the design of the device, but also about the photo part of the phone.

The two sketches seem to be preparations for the design of the future OnePlus smartphone. They are interesting in more ways than one. First of all, because they allow us to glimpse what the device will look like. The OnePlus 5 should, therefore, benefit from a rounded shell with the top covered with ceramic. Also on the back of the phone is a dual photo sensor.

A double photo sensor on the front?

The second sketch allows seeing the facade of the phone. Besides very thin screens borders – but this is the fashion, after all – we can see a dual photo sensor on the front. We do not know their usefulness at the moment, but it could also be to create a Bokeh effect for the portrait mode and to enlarge the photo field, as Oppo does with its recent F3 Plus.

The rest of the design is rather classic. OnePlus should once again incorporate a notification slider on the left slice. On the lower slice are a Type-C USB port, a jack port, and a single speaker.

An announcement that should not wait too long

OnePlus promised, OnePlus 5 will be launched “during the summer”.  This announcement should not be long, it is only a matter of weeks. As for its data sheet, it has already leaked several times in recent days and looks promising with a Snapdragon 835 and 6 GB of RAM.

Rumors that give envy

The latter corroborates some rumors, such as the presence of a dual photo sensor or a general design quite similar to 3T. The rest of the hardware could also go hunting on the land of the very high end.

A QHD screen, a Snapdragon 835 processor, 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage are evoked. All this, of course, remains to be confirmed (especially since some benchmarks indicate less powerful features), but if this were proven, it would justify internal sources that indicate that the smartphone could cost up to 650 dollars.

Policy change

An increase that seems spectacular when we know the history of the brand, but that is not shocking for this type of data sheet (especially in 2017).

Such a tariff would confirm a clear change in pricing policy, now aimed at the very high-end public. A choice that would leave more room for maneuver to other brands like Xiaomi, Huawei or even Oppo in Asia.

OnePlus 5: a designer imagines what the smartphone could look like with superb 3D

Its official, the OnePlus 5 will be well advertised during the summer. But what can he look like? If we have already had a few leaks and some sketches, we must for the moment be satisfied with assumptions. The designer imagined what the smartphone might look like during the announcement.

The images of the OnePlus 5 are therefore neither leaks nor renderings based on precise design specifications, but rather the work of Benjamin Gaskin’s imagination, which was based on the few rumors surrounding the next OnePlus smartphone these last weeks.

And the least we can say is that these renditions are quite credible. The overall design of the imagined camera has an obvious design connection with OnePlus 3T from last year. We thus find a smartphone with the rather massive aspect, with a rounded shell that one imagines in metal. The only uncertainty concerning this rear panel concerns the layout of the dual photo sensor of the OnePlus 5. Benjamin Gaskin chose to represent it vertically, ” because it is more pleasing aesthetically speaking “.

As for the front panel, it looks very similar to the OnePlus 3 with the fingerprint sensor located beneath the screen. Only the finer screens borders are there to mark the change of generation.

The OnePlus 5 should be announced in the coming weeks. We expect a smartphone with a high-end data sheet (Snapdragon 835, 6 GB RAM, 2K screen …) but a relatively soft price.
