Formerly judged as copiers, Chinese Smartphone manufacturers have evolved a lot in recent years. They offer smart phones for all genres, including in the high-end range, for prices that are still quite modest. So what are the best Chinese smart phones? Without further ado, let’s move directly to the selection.

As the name suggests, Chinese smartphones come from China. Thus, we have two very distinct families: on the one hand, those that are marketed outside the borders, such as OnePlus and Honor / Huawei, and on the other hand those not marketed by the manufacturer in China, such as Xiaomi or Oppo.

Importing a Chinese Smartphone

Fortunately, not all Chinese models need to be imported. But some smartphones, especially of relatively unknown brands are not available in traditional stores. In some cases, it is necessary to resolve to import a smartphone from China. But be careful, importing a Chinese smartphone carries risks, it is necessary to take into consideration factors such as the guarantee, the seriousness of the seller, the place of eventual management of a service, etc.

This top is not exhaustive, but the Chinese smartphones presented here are among the best current, by their characteristics and their value for money. It should be noted that for some aircraft stored in France, customs charges (roughly 25%) and generally lower shipping costs should not be included.

Xiaomi Mi MIX

Founded at the end of last year, the Xiaomi Mi MIX is one of the most interesting smartphones that appeared in the year 2017. We find a virtually borderless screen, material as new as quality. This is without a doubt a real beauty canon for many and the finishes are excellent. However, the ceramic case is very prone to fingerprints.

The grip is good despite its 209 grams. Clearly, the Xiaomi MI MIX is still a kind of prototype. Xiaomi has installed Android 6.0.1 on its MIUI 8 interface. Since the Mi MIX is only available in China, we do not find Google’s pre-installed applications. Its 16 megapixel camera (f / 2.0 aperture) is also correct. Small feature, its front camera is located at an abnormal location for a smartphone since it is located in the bottom right corner. Fortunately, the camera knows when you hold the smartphone in hand: the application rotates through 180 degrees. Finally, inside, we find a Qualcomm SoC, the Snapdragon 821, and of course the Adreno 530 graphics chip. Our test had 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory

 Xiaomi Mi 6

Since April, Xiaomi proposes its Mi 6, the successor of its model Mi 5s which had become popular although it was never officially marketed in France by the manufacturer. It is less thick, but the size of the device as much as the screen size have remained identical, but the most regrettable similarity with its predecessor is the lack of compatibility with the 4G in the band 20.

If the software interface can be a bit confusing, the performances will delight the greediest because the results are visible as much on as in practice the benchmarks. It is a real arrow, not only thanks to the Snapdragon 835 but also thanks to the 6 GB of RAM which, at the time of its release, represented a rather rare configuration. The camera is also a point that plays in its favor.

 OnePlus 5

It is now impossible to know more about OnePlus in the world of smartphones. In a short time, the Chinese brand has become a mainstay of the sector. The OnePlus 5 is the latest addition to the company. The OnePlus 5 is one of the most popular Chinese smartphones. The grip and finishes of the smartphone are excellent and are still in progress compared to the previous model, the OnePlus 3T.

It offers a good compromise between performance, battery and price. It also features the latest Qualcomm processor, the Snapdragon 835. The machine does not overheat and has a dual camera (16 and 20 megapixels) at the rear and another good 16-megapixel sensor at the front for perfect Selfies. The device is much criticized for its price because OnePlus has (again) revised upwards, but the value for money is really correct. Note however some small software defects that will be repaired with the next updates.

Huawei P1

The P10 takes again the good tradition of Huawei. Presented as a high-end smartphone at decent prices, the Huawei P10 proves to be a very good rival to other high-end market. The Huawei P10 has all the attributes to please, including an up-to-date EMUI interface with excellent features and a camera made in collaboration with Leica. The latter is composed of 2 objectives, one of 20 megapixels, the other of 12 megapixels,

Huawei Mate 9

The Mate 9 was waiting but he did not disappoint. Its only real fault is its lack of originality in design. But that’s not the main criterion for everybody, is it? Featuring a giant 5.9-inch screen, the Mate 9 is the worthy successor to the Mate 8. On the datasheet, the Mate 9 hosts a 5.9-inch screen, the definition of which is 1080 x 1920 pixels (no alas QHD) and a pixel density of about 373 pixels per inch . Does that remind you of anything? It’s in a few details the same as the Mate 8!

Highlight, the screen occupies 77.5% of the facade! To support this one properly, Huawei uses its new processor octocoeur HiSilicon Kirin 960. On the memory side, the Mate 9 boasts 4 GB of RAM with 64 GB of internal memory. The whole is extensible through a micro-SD card, so what more? The device is indeed compatible with the 4G, offers a dual camera of 20 + 12 megapixels which makes very correct pictures and has a non removable battery capacity of 4000 mAh.

Honor 9

The Chinese manufacturer does not just offer smartphones with good value for money, but offers a successful design. The Honor 9 illustrates all this, it has a 5.15 inch Full-HD compatible 4G LTE screen equipped with a Kirin 960 octocore processor (four Cortex-A73 clocked at 2.4 GHz and four Cortex-A53 clocked at 1 , 8 GHz).

Its dual-camera rear camera is 12 megapixels, the front sensor 8 megapixels. It has 4 GB of RAM, offers 32 GB of internal storage and has a microSD slot. It is an excellent value for money, and certainly one of the best Chinese smartphones.

Honor 6X

This is a good smartphone with an affordable price. Here too, the only real fault of the camera is its camera which, without being bad, has still difficult to keep the road against the competition. Some will find fault with the user interface, EMUI the big flagships. The design is beautiful, its premium appearance is indisputable, and its size of 5.5 inches allows it to enter the world of the phablet.
